Neuling Syllabus

After a month or so of training unranked students will be eligible for the rank of neuling (novice/newcomer). At this point they will know the principle cuts and guards of the Meyer system, and be able to perform basics footwork competently.

Training Duration to Reach this: 4 – 6 weeks

Longsword

Posture

• Front Weighted
• Rear Weighted

Footwork

• Passing

• Side/Glide
• Gathering (lead/rear)

Principal Guards

Secondary Guards

• Wechsel
• Zornhut
• Langort

Principal Cuts

Cuts need only be performed at slow speed showing form and technique.
