Parrying with the flat in a hanging point (Hangetort) position as a prelude to Winden or Umbschnappen.

Applications

Hanging off can be performed to both sides.

Application 1: Slicing off to both sides

In this application the movement is being used as a Taker in the Onset. In this case the fencer is acting in the Nach.

Zornhut, left leg forward Alber, left leg forward
Passing Step with the right foot, cut a Zornhauw to the upper left opening Step out to the right with a Passing Step, catch the blow with a Hanging on the flat from below.
Step around with the left leg in a Triangle Step and cut an Oberhauw, then withdraw.
