Hanging Point
One of Meyer's secondary guards, the hanging point is a defensive hanging guard similar to ochs except the point of the blade hangs downward and to the side around waist height. If the blade were, conversely, lifted, it would have become an einhorn.
It can be used for deflecting or binding with equal facility and is seen with both forward and cross step posture.
Mair's Hanging Point
Sometimes we use a very vertical version of the hangetort as seen in the works of Mair, as shown in the image below. In this case we will refer to it as Mair's Hangetort.
