Hanging

Parrying with the flat in a hanging point (Hangetort) position as a prelude to Winden or Umbschnappen.

Applications

In which the 'student' demonstrates their knowledge to the 'teacher'.

Application 1: Hanging Parry

In this application the technique is being used in the Onset. In this case the fencer is acting in the Nach after the opponent attempts to strike them.

Vom tag, left leg forward	Pflug, left leg forward
Passing Step forward with the right leg, cut a Oberhauw to the upper left opening.	[Step slightly right with the rear foot and lift to Hanging, deflecting with the flat.
	Cut around with a Zornhauw using the momentum of his strike to drive your blow.

Perform this technique on both sides.
