[edit] Lehrling Level 2 Syllabus
Lehrling Level 2 studends should have a firm grasp of all of the principal and secondary cuts and guards, as well as an understanding of various handworks, especially the deceptions (failing, flowing off, flitting, changing) and other works such as winding (Winden), setting-aside (Absetzen) used in Meyer. This level also adds a variety of thrusting techniques to the student's arsenal.
[edit] Previous Levels
The fencer should be able to demonstrate the techniques from the previous levels:
[edit] Strikes
[edit] Thrusts
- Application 1 - Low Thrust
- Application 2 - High Thrust
- Application 3 - Low Thrust Absetzen
- Application 4 - High Thrust Absetzen
[edit] Principal Cuts
Cuts need only be performed at moderate speed showing form and technique.
- Zornhauw
- Application 6 - Zornhauw Wechseln
- Application 7 - Doplieren
[edit] Secondary Cuts
Cuts need only be performed at slow speed showing form and technique.
[edit] Crooked cut variations:
- Kurtzhauw (short strike)
[edit] Thwart cut variations:
- Kneichelhauw (wrist strike)
[edit] Plunging cut variations:
- Sturtzhauw Application 2 - Zirckel
- Kronhauw ( crown strike)
[edit] False edge cuts which parry:
- Glutzhauw (clashing strike)
[edit] Changing strike variations:
- Prellhauw (bounce strike)
[edit] Cuts with winding:
- Blendthauw (blind strike)
[edit] Cutting to the Openings
[edit] Handworks
Handworks need only be performed at slower speed; coordination, form, and technique are the priority. The student should know the appropriate applications for:
- Abschneiden (Slicing Off)
- Abschneiden Application 1 - Slicing off to both sides
- Wechseln (Changing)
- Anbinden Application 2 - Wechseln
The handworks below are already covered in the sections above.
- Doplieren (Doubling)
- Zornhauw Application 8 - Doplieren
- Umbschnappen
- Thrusts Application 5 - Thrust Umbschnappen
- Nachreisen (Chasing)
- Kniechelhauw Application
- Anbinden Application 5 - Nachreissen
- Wechseln (Changing)
- Zornhauw Application 6 - Wechseln
- Zucken (Pulling)
- Zirckel (Circle)
- Sturtzhauw Application 2 - Zirckel
- Winden (Winding)
[edit] Fencing Free-play
The students shall demonstrate their ability to fence using the principles from Meyer's system in the following conditions:
- Fight a 2 minute bout at slow-moderate speed showing control and flow
- Fight a 2 minute bout at moderate-high speed using fechtschule rules
- Fight a 2 minute bout at moderate-high speed using tournament rules
