After a few months of training unranked students will be eligible for the rank of neuling (novice/newcomer). At this point they will have demonstrated a genuine desire to learn the principles of the style.
They will have learned simple cuts and guards, and will have begun to learn the theory of fencing.
The techniques required for this level can be found in the Table of Techniques for Grading.
