Polearm Thrusts
From Scholar Victoria
No staff treatise would be complete without thrusting. We only have one thrusting exercise here despite the fact that thrusting is one of the critical attacks with both halberd and staff.
The full sequence of thrusts can be carried out as follows for demonstration purposes:
- Left leg forward, Mittelhut with the staff drawn slightly back
- Gathering Step forward and thrust to the head.
- Gathering Step forward and thrust to the torso.
- Gathering Step forward and thrust to the legs.
- Move to high Oberhut in the high thrusting variation.
- Gathering Step forward and thrust to the upper opening
Thrusts can be used to initiate action, or as a follow up after parrying.
