This strike moves from high guard through middle-guard, down to low guard. During the course of the cut we move from a very upright position to a slight forward lean.
- Left leg forward, Oberhut on left shoulder.
- Strike diagonally down with a Gathering Step forward to Mittelhut, extending well out in the cut.
- Continue the movement to Unterhut on the right.
- Bring staff back up to Oberhut at the left shoulder, gather back.
This technique can be used as both an attack and a parry.
As an attack it usually targets the upper openings, while as a parry it is aimed at the opponent's weapon, particularly at their hands.
