Failing

The act of redirecting a cut smoothly part way through and cutting through to another opening. This differs from Verfliegen in that it is a smooth redirection rather than jerking away.

Application Examples

In which the 'student' demonstrates their knowledge to the 'teacher' of a failing attack which moves off to each side.

Meister Lehrling
Eisenport, left leg forward Zornhut, left leg forward
Passing Step, Zornhauw
Long edge parry. Before impact, lift the pommel and let the blade run off to your right in a circle (Zirckel) by the left side.
