Clashing Strike

A secondary strike in Meyer's system. This blow deflects an incoming blow with the flat of the blade and attacks with the false edge.

Execution

The canonical application of the Kneichelhauw is described as follows:

  • As the opponent strikes an Oberhauw or Zornhauw, strike against it with the flat, right palm facing toward you, cutting down to his upper left opening.
  • Let the flat slide along his blade
  • When you get near his crossguard swing the tip over to cut the head with the false edge.

It can be argued that this blow is closely related to the Schielhauw, but slides along with the flat more.

Application Example

In which the 'student' demonstrates their knowledge to the 'teacher'.

Teacher Student
Zornhut, left leg forward Schrankhut, left leg forward
Passing Step forward, Zornhauw Uncross the hands and with a Passing Step to the right catch the blow on the flat.
Slide the blade down theirs and swing the false edge forward to their face.
