Forestalling/Blocking

The act of blocking the opponents arms so that he can't cut around to the next opening, and continuing to do so no matter where he wishes to move. Then, when an opening presents, you attack it by pushing away with the long edge and letting fly to the next opening.

There are many techniques used in forestalling, including:

• Schneiden (slicing)
• Hendtrucken (pressing hands)
• Verkehren (reversing)
• Außreissen (wrenching)
• Sperren (barring)
• Ubergreiffen (over gripping)
