Long Point

Longsword

Langenort.png

A centreline guard held point forward & slightly upward toward the face of the opponent, in a forward weighted posture. Left longpoint is performed with the right leg forward, left longpoint with the right forward.

The blade can be angled to either side or vertical depending on the need.

This is the transitional point through which cuts from above pass (eg. oberhauw). It is also used as a guard, being particularly useful for changing through durchwechseln, and is closely related to gerade versetzung and eisenport.
