The parry of High Seconde stops Cut 5.

Hutton describes this as an engaging guard as well as a simple parry. A high seconde position, this allows rapid a moulinet Cut 1 but fatigues the shoulder. It was a popular sport fencing guard in Hutton's time in certain areas. Unlike prime it does not cross the line from right to left, but rather guards the outside line.

Execution

  • Raise the hand to should level
  • Let the blade hang down nearly vertical, edge to the right front.
  • Receive the cut on the forte as near to the shell as possible.
