The act of catching the blade on the long edge of the sword and "cutting it away" off to one side, usually with a step to the other side.  For example, in the [[Nebenhut]] with the rappier, if the opponent cuts or thrusts the blade is moved out toward the straight parrying, then sliced away down to [[Wechsel]] on the left or right.
