Bastion

Dussack

There are two versions of the Bastion.

The first variation of the guard "bastei" is the natural end point for a full cut from above vertically downward and it resembles the longsword position Alber.

The second variation has more in common with the barrier guard (Schranckhut) as shown in the longsword section (also called Iron gate in some areas of the text). It is performed with the point down and the hilt upward, hanging down, with the long edge toward the opponent, as shown in the image below.
