Suppressing Strike
A rappier strike which cuts vertically at the shoulder line in order to both attack the opponent, and take their blade down out of the way as a versetzen.
Execution
The canonical unterhauw is performed as follows.
- If your opponent attacks from the left
- Go up into a high guard and step out toward his left with the rear foot (Triangle Step)
- Cut down with an angle between the arm and hand almost as if you're leading with your hand and cutting down into Eisenport - the cut should be aimed at his right shoulder.
- The cut should strike his forearm or strong, thus parrying the blow and keeping you safe.
