This is the first real step to mastering the longsword and the student must show a sound practical and theoretical knowledge of all of the cuts and guards, and how they can be applied with Meyer's handworks. In addition to additional cutting techniques and handworks, the student also works more in the bind with handworks such as changing through, pulling, and so on.
