Withdrawing the lead leg (or arm) out of the line of a cut, then moving back in for a cut after their strike has missed.
For example:
Master | Pupil |

Cut 4 to the leg | Spring back to First Position, delivering a Time Hit to the face, arm, or thrust to the chest. |
In this example if the leg cut was a Cut 3 to the inside, then the responding strike should be in the form of Cut 1 also inside.
